Treatment of wrinkles and facial grooves
This type of treatment should be considered when the reflection in the mirror does not correspond to the energy level we feel we have, or when relatives or friends ask why we look tired, sad or upset, even though we feel none of these things.
Time and experiences can leave their mark on facial features and sometimes this mark can be in contrast with inner feelings. Weight loss, sad events, unhappy past experiences can set in motion a series of mimic muscles which through frequent contraction create permanent folds on the facial skin.
Neuromodulators
The use of neuromodulators is especially recommended for treatment of the upper third of the face, transverse frontal wrinkles, vertical glabellar wrinkles, periorbital wrinkles. A good knowledge of the action of mimic muscles is essential for obtaining a natural result.
Treatment with neurotoxin can be done without anaesthesia, as the needles used are very fine. NSAIDs such as aspirin are not recommended for two weeks before and two weeks after treatment. Results are not immediate; the effect develops gradually in four to seven days, with stabilisation of results in about two weeks. The effect of injection lasts three to six months.
Fillers
The first signs of ageing are noticed around the mouth. Lip atrophy, associated with fine wrinkles, deep nasolabial and labiomental grooves, is responsible for the aged and tired appearance of the face. Fortunately, all of these can be successfully treated by precise injection of hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid acts through its volume that fills gaps, but also by attracting water to its surface, maintaining hydration levels in the deep layers of the skin. Other denser formulas can be injected onto bone surfaces, contributing to restoration of bone structure loss, acting as a true implant.
Duration of treatment varies depending on the number of areas to treat, the degree of change planned and whether anaesthetic is used, but usually lasts about 30-45 minutes. A correction session is frequently needed, after about two weeks, to substantiate the results.
