Liposuzione
Our body holds a fixed number of fat cells. When frequent weight variations are recorded, these cells increase or decrease in volume. Once a localised fat deposit forms, a state of equilibrium is reached that cannot be modified without external intervention.
Some fat deposits can be reduced through diet, through various methods of intensifying metabolism or a combination of the two. A key factor in maintaining a healthy weight is regular and frequent monitoring of it.
Sometimes, even with a correct diet or a balanced lifestyle, there may be regions that stubbornly retain their fat content, aptly named: diet and exercise-resistant fat deposits. They can be located anywhere, depending on individual genetics: flanks, thighs, lower abdomen, hips, knees, neck.
Lipo-sculpting or lipo-definition is one of the current trends in body contouring, using liposuction as a tool to accentuate natural reliefs, such as the deltoid area or the abdomen.
Benefits of liposuction
- Liposuction is a surgical procedure individualised for each patient. The best results are recorded in patients with localised fat deposits, with good skin quality and a body mass index as close to normal as possible.
- Liposuction removes fat cells, so the improvement in body contour is maintained even in case of new weight gain, as some cells are no longer in the same position.
- Superficial liposuction can improve the appearance of the skin through the effect of skin retraction/contraction.
- The procedure can be performed in one or more sessions, with intravenous anaesthesia, short hospitalisation time and a minimum of recovery time required.
- The fat resulting from the aspiration process can be used, after appropriate processing, to treat areas with volume deficits that can benefit from fat addition.
